ScaleReady Awards G-Rex® Grant to Support Cell-Easy as a European Hub for G-Rex®-Based Manufacturing

ScaleReady Awards G-Rex® Grant to Support Cell-Easy as a European Hub for G-Rex®-Based Manufacturing

Toulouse, 2026 June 11th

ScaleReady, a joint venture between Wilson Wolf and Bio-Techne and provider of scalable cell culture technologies, has awarded a G-Rex® Grant to Cell-Easy to support the development of a European hub for G-Rex®-based cell therapy manufacturing within the French CDMO.

G-Rex® is widely recognized as a leading platform for scalable cell culture and is broadly adopted by cell therapy developers worldwide. When properly implemented and optimized, the technology can deliver strong performance in both cell quality and yield. Achieving these outcomes, however, requires a solid understanding of the platform and careful control of key process parameters—capabilities that developers increasingly seek from experienced CDMO partners.

“For biotech companies developing cell therapies on G-Rex®, working with a CDMO that understands the platform well can make a significant difference,” said Josh Ludwig, Global Commercial Director at ScaleReady. “Process efficiency, reproducibility, and cost control depend on the manufacturer’s ability to optimize multiple parameters. Through this grant, we aim to further strengthen Cell-Easy’s expertise and establish them as an important European partner for developers working with G-Rex® technology.”

The grant supports a comprehensive project focused on engineered T-cell therapies, applying a Quality by Design approach. Cell-Easy will work on optimizing key process parameters — including cell seeding density, culture conditions, and transduction strategies — before confirming process robustness through scale-up studies performed both at Cell-Easy’s facility and at ScaleReady’s CDMO site in the United States: CellReady (Houston, Texas).

For developers, working with a CDMO experienced in a given technology can translate into faster technology transfer, more predictable development timelines, and manufacturing processes that are better optimized from the outset. By generating validated workflows and deeper process understanding, the collaboration aims to help developers reduce development risk and facilitate the transition from early-stage development to GMP manufacturing.

Cell-Easy brings prior experience with G-Rex® platforms and a science-driven approach to process development. Through this collaboration with ScaleReady, the company will further expand its capabilities and contribute to making optimized G-Rex®-based manufacturing more accessible to cell therapy developers across Europe.

ScaleReady’s G-Rex Grant Program has now surpassed $40M of no-cost product commitments to grant recipients with the goal of advancing the state of cell and gene-modified cell therapy (CGT) development and manufacturing. Individual Grant Awards are worth up to $300,000.  G-Rex Grant Recipients also gain access to exclusive support from ScaleReady’s growing consortium of G-Rex Grant Partners who bring best-in-class tools and technologies as well as unparalleled knowledge and expertise in the areas of cGMP manufacturing, quality and regulatory affairs, CGT business operations, and more.

In 2026, ScaleReady has launched the G-Rex Grant Tour.  This 12-part event series around the United States will rally, foster, and invest in the local cell & gene therapy community, promote transparency and collaboration among like-minded individuals and organizations working towards a common goal, catalyze scientific and clinical progress through a shared sense of duty to patients, and spotlight the breadth of innovative CGT approaches being powered by G-Rex. All sponsorship dollars raised will go to support the Emily Whitehead Foundation.
